Learning about ourselves! Ok, we've been working hard on our music and drill, so why not take a little time to read up on our past. Thanks to the John Cornwell collection, we have posted an electronic version of the 1962 Scouts Yearbook for everyone's enjoyment.

Rebuild the Temple
Dr. Don's Corner

In life, you don't attract to yourself what you want, instead you attract because of who you are.

Success doesn't come to you, rather, it comes from you.

A well known principle states, "The only thing constant is change."  The human body is constantly regenerating eight million cells per second.  Your temple rebuilds itself every thirteen months.  In this time, you are either growing stronger or weaker.

Be sincerely thankful for where you have been.  Be honest evaluating where you are today, and feel the excitement of what is yet to come.  You deserve this awesome experience.

I would like to share some basic physical enhancements; the purpose being that we all make it through to August together.  These are some of the small habits that when repeated daily, will get your performances from mere surviving to thriving and delivering the passion we are famous for.

Remember the mental and physical go together.  Every time you move, there are powerful impulses sent through your body keeping your brain charged.  This is why people that don't exercise daily have a 30-40% increase in Alzheimer's and dementia.

For our purposes we can prioritize everything starting with core strength.  This is basically any type of abdominal and back work, like Pilates, preferably on the ball, yoga, and any type of sit-up with less stress on the back or neck.  Benefits include: injury prevention, recovery, perfect posture, leg strength, back strength, unlimited endurance, and lung capacity VO2 max.

This will go a long way in creating that undescribable, old-school presence.  Luck is where preparation meets opportunity.  No one gets left behind.  You don't want to end up on the outside looking in.

Please consider some type of 3-4 times a week aerobic activity - walking, running, swimming, biking, etc.   Even the slightest increases from where you are now stimulates physiology to growth and recovery.  Start now while there is some time for repetition.

Nutrition

Drinking at least half of your body weight per day in ounces of water is ideal.  Water is not soda, coffee, juice, or American beer.

Prioritize food intake starting with a balanced diet.  Anything fried ( trans fats)   destroys the cell membrane wall.  The brain is a fat burner,  it utilizes healthy oils.  Balance carb intake with healthy proteins.  Ground flax seed in a protein shake works well.  Sugar has the same effect on cancer  as gasoline does on fire.

www.mercola.com is a great site for wkly nutrition info

It is virtually impossible to get the nutrients from the American diet nescessary for survival.  Anything from Wal-Mart, Walgreesns, Centrum, One-a-Day, etc. is typically all garbage.

The following is a list of basic supplements:
  • Vitamin C
  • Fish Oil with EPA/DHA
  • Multivitamins
  • Phytonutrents
  • Calcium
There are hundreds of health-related articles at www.hundtchiropractic.com .  My e-mail is dhundt1@wi.rr.com

Go ahead and smile now.  Show up prepared in August and you may never stop.  I'm getting all nipply thinking about it.

It was awesome seeing you all again.

May God continue to bless you and your families,

Dr. Don
